Aoife Walsh

“I’m a total geek; a ginger nerd who lives in the library and has been studying for the last six years," she said in earlier interview. "So I think I deserve this break to give this a real go. This is my dream. I have always wanted to model, but I knew I had to study first. That’s why I’m late to the business."
In attendance at the reception were mayor Pat English who is the last mayor of Clonmel, councillors, members of the business community and Aoife's family and friends. Aoife's achievements were highlighted by Mayor Pat English, including her three degrees. Aoife's parents Liam and Philomena watched on with pride as Mayor English also spoke about Aoife's early years, specifically her love of song and dance and her performance with St.Mary's Choral Society in a number of shows as a young girl.
Aoife then had an opportunity to thank the people of Clonmel in supporting her through the Miss Ireland competition, including her friends and family as well as the local businesses who sponsored her. The engaged audience heard af the Miss World competition, which was held in Indonesia last month where Aoife represented Ireland. She was one of 10 finalists out of 130 chosen to perform "Dances of the World" and she was honoured to perform River Dance. Aoife spoke with grace and humility and captivated the room. She articulated how she will never forget her Clonmel roots. She commented that even when she travels all over the world representing Ireland, she even still meanages to support Tipperary GAA.
