The 8th China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy), which was closing on August 1, is determined to become the largest and most comprehensive online games conferences in the world, an official from one of the conference organizers said. Unlike the past years, when ChinaJoy was focused mostly on games expo, the organizers started since 2009 to expand and consolidate it into two major parts – the game exhibition and a series of industry-themed conferences. The later includes the 8th CGBC (China Game Business Conference), 3rd CGDC (China Game Developers Conference) and 1st CGOC (China Game Outsourcing Conference).
There were totally 120,000 ordinary audiences from all parts of the country visiting ChinaJoy expo and around 18,000 to 19,000 industry professionals from 33 countries and regions attending the Expo and the conferences. This year, it’s estimated that 150,000 public audiences visited the exhibition.
The whole expo & conference attracted more than 500 media outlets and roughly 4,000 journalists and photographers on site. The expo & conference sponsored by a number of Chinese authorities, including the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP), the Ministry of Science and Technology, The Ministry of Industrial and Information Technology, the General Administration of Sport, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the National Copyright Bureau, and the Shanghai Municipal Government. It is organized by the China Game Publishers Association, Howell International Trade Fair Limited, and Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication.
