Heavy rainfall in South Korea in late July 2011 triggered a series of flash floods and landslides that killed at least 49 people by July 28, leaving a total of more than 77 dead or missing. Son Doong cave (in Vietnamese: Hang Sơn Đoòng, meaning Mountain River Cave) is a cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, Vietnam. The cave is located near the Laos-Vietnam border ( 17°27'25.88"N 106°17'15.36"E). It has a large fast-flowing underground river inside.
The cave was found by a local man named Hồ-Khanh in 1991. The local jungle men were afraid of the cave for the whistling sound it makes from the underground river...
